Synopsis:

Takashi Natsume has been running away from the apparitions who chase after him. He tries to run away from them without being noticed by the others around him, but one day, he cuts the rope around the small shrine. Out comes an apparition in a figure of a beckoning cat. The apparition's name is Madara, and learns that he is mistaking him for Reiko, and wants to have his name back. Within the belongings which were left from Reiko, there was a notebook named "Yujin-cho (friend list)", and some unreadable words written on it. Reiko was also disliked by human beings, just like Natsume. From loneliness, she fought battles with challenging apparitions, and by winning the battle, she listed them as her followers. Understanding Reiko's feelings, Natsume decides to give the names back. It seemed like the thing that he must do. By doing so, he felt the tie between him and his grandmother will bond, without having any other relatives. Natsume begs Madara to help him return the names, by giving the Yujin-cho to Madara when Natsume dies. Being amazed with his offer, madara grants his wish.

Think about apparition in the Yujin-cho and turn pages. Then the name will be selected automatically. Natsume blows his breath to the page, and the name returns to the apparition. Then the feelings of the apparition flows into Natsume, and understands its feelings. Everyone has a heart, humans and even apparitions.
