The name 'Hanasaku Iroha' means 'The ABCs of Blooming' and the anime's genres are Comedy, Coming of Age and Slice of Life. It's genuine, and there's nothing too heavy about it. At the helm of Hanasaku Iroha is director Masahiro Ando, who helped create classics like Full Metal Alchemist, Ghost in the Shell, Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade, Lupin III, New Fist of the North Star, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Wolf's Rain, and X.

Hand in hand, Masahiro Ando and P.A. Works spinned Hanasaku Iroha from Mari Okada's story and Kishida Mel's character designs. Mari Okada has done the Series Composition for everything from the popular to the serious, from Gosick to Hourou Musuko. As always, Kishida Mel sentimentally draws youthful girls with gentle perfection.
