anibee's Ultimate Otaku Outing - Ikebukuro Eats!!

If you ever head to Ikebukuro, this is something that I say you HAVE to eat. It's a mini food heaven situated near Sunshine City Prince Hotel, and it's soooo good you have to be careful not to spend too much of your cash on it! XD (I recall Q reminding me that it's so easy to spend your cash on such street vendors in Japan because the food is JUST TOO GOOD TO RESIST!)

Serene's Pick: The ULTIMATE treat - Bakudanyaki!

Anyways, this place (and officially my favourite snack place in Ikebukuro) is called Bakudanyaki! 8D Always served hot and delicious, be prepared to queue for a while!

When you receive your Bakudanyaki, it'll literally be steaming hot. That's one plus point that makes it really tasty. :>

DON'T THEY LOOK LIKE NORMAL TAKOYAKI? JUST REALLY HUGE, THAT'S ALL. O.O

Bakudanyaki is basically something like your normal takoyaki, except that it's a jumbo sized one. OAO Imagine viewing a takoyaki ball under a magnifying glass, and that's about a normal Bakudanyaki ball size.

(Q: 'Bakudanyaki' is a play on the words 'Bakudan' ’爆弾(Bomb) and Yaki' 焼き(Fried). So it basically means 'Fried Bombs')

It's pure heaven for takoyaki fans like me. *drools*

Also, instead of having only one or two ingredients inside it, Bakudanyaki has tons of them, all of which taste HEAVENLY TOGETHER! I never expected the amount of ingredients they'd put inside one ball of Bakudanyaki. Owo (Not that I'm complaining since that means I get to eat more. 8D)

HEE, THEIR DISPLAY OF BAKUDANYAKI BALLS ARE SO CUTE. AND TASTY-LOOKING...

Bakudanyaki also has a variety of flavours available for the balls. There's Regular, Cheese mix, Barbeque mix... and also flavours like Kimchi, Green onion & salt, fried egg... Some do sound a little weird, but I'll bet they probably taste really good. XD

What I had was the regular (because I'm a broke little kid) and Q ordered the cheese mix. We were both extremely pleased with what we had in our hands! Imagine walking around for the whole day and being pretty hungry, with the cold winds blowing and biting at your skin... and then in your hands appears a box of piping hot, delectable-looking, totally devouring-worthy Bakudanyaki waiting for you to savour it. QAQ

It was love at first bite! It might have scalded my tongue a little because it was freshly hot from the stove, but I'll bet you my taste buds didn't mind the heat one bit. XD In the slightly chilly spring weather, that ball of Bakudanyaki really hits the spot. The taste just exploded in my mouth and I was really sad when I finished it. :( Even until now, I miss the taste of it. I SHOULD HAVE ORDERED MORE WHEN I WAS IN JAPAN. QAQ

Thus, let's end off by saying you have to try this in Japan when you go over. It's something so worth your money that your taste buds will thank you non-stop for buying it. Besides, if you don't buy it, BAKUDANYAKI WILL PLAY THEIR EXTREMELY CATCHY SONG NON-STOP IN YOUR HEAD. It's been stuck in my head ever since I got back from Japan. Q understands my pain too. :3 ...Since I've been singing it to him whenever I can. >D
