anibee's Guide to Nifty Japanese Words 101! (Vol. 27)
We did cool stuff heroes can say to inspire team mates, move crowds, make potential love interests tear up and run sobbing into your waiting arms, and just sound overall cool!
But what about the bad guys? We can't leave them out now, can we? (Of course not)
From terrifying a hapless victim, to enraging your pitiful heroic counterpart after killing his girlfriend/father/mother/pet dog/eating his last slice of pizza, to bringing cities of civilians down on their knees, villains need cool things to say just as much as heroes do!
Here are some we happen to like:
Nothing like a quick, easy one-word phrase for you to throw about here and there to add that bit of extra "flavour". While pummeling someone, burning a city to the ground, or even when standing completely still, any good bad guy (is that an oxymoron?) uses these liberally - and excessively!
Awesome Baddies who use this: Cell (Dragonball Z), M.Bison/Vega (Street Fighter), nearly every bad guy voiced by Norio Wakamoto.
Sugu raku ni shite yaru...
I'll make this easy for you...
What's scarier than a villain that's kicking your butt? A villain that's kicking your butt so hard, he feels inclined to go easy on you! Show your sheer dominance and contempt for your pathetic hero with this great line!
Awesome Baddies who use this: Iori Yagami (King of Fighters)
Waga no pawaa wa mugen da!
My power is INFINITE!!
The psychotic, crazed, power-hungry villain is the absolute classic image that every aspiring villain should strive for. Once you're there, there's no better phrase to bellow out to let the whole world know you mean business. For maximum effectiveness, start hooting in loud, gregarious laughter right after it!
Awesome Baddies who use this: M.Bison/Vega (Street Fighter), nearly every bad guy voiced by Norio Wakamoto (are you seeing a pattern here?)
The unfortunate thing about being a villain however is that you're probably going to lose at some point. That doesn't mean that you still can't sound cool though! Whether you've just been hit really bad, or your base is about to explode, just uttering this phrase (be sure to extend your Rs liberally!) not only helps you vent, but also gives a hint that someday... you might return!
Awesome Baddies who use this: Countless numbers of tokusatsu villains (Kamen Rider, etc)
