anibee's Guide to Nifty Japanese Words 101! (Vol. 23)
What's better than being a butt-kicking, people-saving, building-smashing, power-suit-donning hero? A super hero that's all of the above, and that can spout awesome phrases in Japanese too!
From pumping up your allies before a fight to bringing tears to the eyes of your heart-touched maidens, here's a quick lowdown on cool-as-ice stuff you can say as the hero you're destined to be!
Minna wa ore ga mamoru!
"I'll protect everyone!!"
One of the key topics to talk about as a hero of Japanese fiction is that of wanting to protect stuff. People, friends, family, your car, your action figure, or that hot dakimakura of Nanoha you just got from Akihabara. Well, you get it.
Ore no chikara wo misete yaru ze!
"I'll show you my true power!!"
No matter how badly you've been beaten down, a hero never admits that he's unleashed everything he has. Remember: there's nothing stronger than sheer denial!
Aku wa yurusan!!
"Evil will never be forgiven!!"
Some of the best heroes out there have one thing in common - being perpetually angry, especially when their best friend kicks the bucket, the city is blown up, or the villain has interrupted their nap. For an extra Kamen Rider-esque flavour to it, be sure to scream this line in a very husky-manner!
Ore-tachi chikara wo awasereba, dare ni mo makenai!
"As long as we combine our powers, we will lose to no one!"
Often times, the only way to beat a particular stubborn bad guy is through the power of bros (or sisters, for you heroines out there)! This is when you need an encouraging phrase like this to help reinvigorate your beaten down buddy. For one needs a partner that's as pumped up as you are for delivering that final blow - and to strike that victory pose!
