anibee's Guide to Nifty Japanese Words 101! (Vol. 14)

Fighting Words! - Part 3: The Aftermath!

The explosions have ceased, the sparks have fizzled and the dust has settled. In the blink of an eye, your epic fight is over - hopefully with you as the last one standing, proud and victorious!

Having just survived the fight of your life, surely it is only fitting to be able to say a few words that will be remembered for generations to come! You've said some awesome pre-fight lines and fired off several cool mid-fight lines to boot, so it's only natural to finish the fight in style too!

俺の勝ちだ!

Ore no kachi da!
"I win!/Victory is mine!"

You would want to say this line because - sometimes, saying the most basic and obvious of things is the best. From an arrogant, confident hero, to an earnest fighter (such as Luffy from One Piece), this phrase and its variations appear frequently in all kinds of games and anime!

よしゃあああ!!
Yoshaaa!!
"Alright!!!"

You would want to say this line because - nothing beats letting out all the aggression and tension you've built up within yourself in one good, hearty roar of victory!! Always used by the most hyper-active of heroes (like Kamen Rider Gatack, for instance), feel free to yell this as loudly and proudly as you see fit.

やった!

Yatta!
"Yay!"

anibee's Epic Scale rating - Varies

You would want to say this line because - it's essentially an alternative to the line above, only that it tends to fit more people. Less animalistic roar and more cheerful cry, it's often heard especially from female fighters such as the ever-classic, Chun-li.

お前はもう死んでいる。

Omae wa mou shindeiru.
"You are already dead."

anibee's Epic Scale rating - 9001/10

You would want to say this line because - okay okay I admit - this is a really character specific line. But come on, who DOESN'T want to sound as badass as Kenshirou from Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the Northstar). A line that means business and that defined a generation, it's bound to make your already defeated opponent quake in his boots!

Or identify yourself as a huge fanboy.
