Cosplay Quickies! #4

Today's Tip: Watch your stuff!!

Cosplaying is all about having fun, both with your friends, and enjoying your time being the character you love!

But the world isn't quite as rosy as anime sadly, and often times, mishaps do happen, most prominently that of property theft.

To ensure you have the funnest, yet safest time while cosplaying:

  • Keep your personal property on you or as close as possible to you at all times: Events get really crowded, and that's when one's at risk of getting stuff stolen. Having a costume that has pockets is the best way to ensure that stuff like wallets & phones are always near you.

  • HAVE A FRIEND THAT'S WILLING TO HELP LOOK AFTER YOUR STUFF WHILE YOU'RE BUSY AT AN EVENT!

  • Go with friends: It's understandable that some costumes don't have any means of storage on them. This is when going in groups is ideal, as having friends reduces the chances of someone losing something when everyone is watching one another's backs.
  • Plan your activities properly beforehand: Do you want to focus on cosplaying big time, pulling out your biggest costume and intending to draw huge crowds of photographers? Or do you intend to take it easy and wearing something simpler, so you can enjoy the event itself?

Making plans to accommodate the activities you wish to attend is vital in minimising the likelihood of you being caught unprepared and having to leave something unattended. If possible, have a designated caretaker of your items, ideally someone who isn't going to be tied down with posing for pictures or being distracted in anyway.

And at the end of day, don't forget to show your helpful friends your gratitude for taking care of your belongings!
