Nestled in the bustling district of Duxton Hill, Flor Patisserie serves Japanese inspired French pastries with a zeal for its freshness of ingredients. Their cakes are made daily, without artificial rising or softening agents. As a testament to their commitment to quality, all unsold products are disposed of at the end of the day.
Helmed by Chef Yamashita, who had dedicated his life working at various patisseries around Japan before starting his own patisserie in Nara in 2001 and Singapore a decade later. Chef Yamashita's dedication to his craft has garnered him many celebrity fans such as Horiuchi Takao and Iwasaki Hiromi!
After hearing so much positive news about Flor Patisserie, the anibee team decided to go for a gastronomic trail of tasting their three signature cakes - Berry Berries, Napoleon and Mont Blanc.
Berry Berries (S$5.50)
This strawberry shortcake gave a hint of fresh strawberry without being overwhelmingly sweet. Garnished with wild berries and a spread of luscious cream, it has the simplicity of appearance and lightness in taste.
Touted as their bestseller, this is the strawberry version of a traditional sponge cake, with a distinct punch of flavour. Thanks to Chef Yamashita' s signature puff pastry, it possesses a crunchy bite to it.
Mont Blanc ($6.50)
This is easily our favourite! One could possibly go into a pastry-ecstasy by simply admiring the intricate weaves of the chestnut cream. The texture of the sponge is soft and light, and every mouthful gives off a subtle hint of chestnut fragrance - a must try.
