Ani-Music: Yanagi Nagi
If you're a big fan of Otome anime Amnesia, then you will have definitely heard of Yanagi Nagi! Singing the fast-paced opening song Zoetrope, she's an upcoming star to keep a lookout for! Another opening that she has done for 2013 is Yukitoki for Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru.
Some of you might also know her as the guest vocalist for indie group supercell, for songs such as Sayonora Memories, Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari (ED song for Bakemonogatari) and Utakata Hanabi, just to name a few. She was also the main vocalist for supercell's second album, Today is a Beautiful Day.
In my opinion, her songs carry a very strong pop feel and thus, very inclined towards mainstream Japanese pop music. Still, there's enough uniqueness in her repertoire to set her apart from the rest!
After signing on to Geneon Universal Entertainment (same management with fripside!!), she has released Vidro Moyou (ED for Ano Natsu de Matteru), Ambivalent idea (OP for Jormungand) and Laterality (ED for Jormungand: Perfect Order).
Not only has she contributed several songs to the ever-growing ani-music industry, she has collaborated with with Jun Maeda of Key (writer for visual novels Air and Clannad) to produce original concept album Owari no Hoshi no Love Song under Flaming June. You can read a quick review of the best-selling album over at my blog.
Just this month, she has released her first solo album, titled Euaru. Out of 14 tracks, she penned and composed 4! Moreover, it reached 4th on the Japanese Oricon charts. The first press release even includes a special cover CD, which you can listen to a preview here!
All in all, I think she will carve her own territory in the music industry with her clear soft vocals and unique taste in music. I hope that you can take note of her too :DD
