A Speedy Revival!: SEGA brings original 'Sonic the Hedgehog' to the 3DS!
In a move to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the classic 16-bit video game console, the Mega Drive/Genesis, SEGA of Japan recently released their 'SEGA 3D Revival Project' series of games.
Comprising of several classic titles released in the late 80's to early 90's in SEGA's library; including Super Hang-On and Space Harrier; SEGA has added the original 'Sonic the Hedgehog' game to the list of new refurbished re-releases on the Nintendo 3DS.
Not just any ordinary port, this new enhanced version that featured the debut of SEGA's mascot, now dubbed 3D Sonic the Hedgehog, includes a bevy of new features not found in any previous version of the game to date.
Amongst the numerous new additions are full 3D graphics to go with the system's primary gimmick, a Stage Select feature made available right off the bat, 2 different graphical settings (Classic and Normal), the ability to toggle the Spin Dash move on or off, and the option to pick between the Japanese or Overseas version of the game - either choice affecting the bonus content experienced.
3D Sonic the Hedgehog was released in the Japanese Nintendo e-shop in May, and is a purchasable download for 600 yen.
