100%KPP World Tour in Singapore - QB-sensei's Revelation of a Pamyu Pamyu Revolution
Ah, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu... it's only been a couple of years since I knew of her via PONPONPON, which spawned a trending meme filled with parodies and covers. Then came Candy Candy, and then Tsukematsukeru, and one thing leads to another, and I ended up getting interested in watching her performances up close, which I did on 10th May, 2013 at *SCAPE Warehouse for her 100%KPP World Tour in Singapore concert!
As part of her 100%KPP World Tour, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu sings and performs live to her legions of fans with her troupe of dancers backing her up, and the Singapore leg is no exception as her fans here congregated on *SCAPE to be part of the Pamyu Pamyu Revolution!
As I came down in the afternoon to soak up on the pre-concert atmosphere, I saw the merchandise booth set up in front of *SCAPE Warehouse, selling a range of Kyary merchandise from scarves and commemorative T-shirts to her breakthrough album CD, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution, which includes memorable hits like PONPONPON, Tsukematsukeru and Candy Candy. Also, not forgetting her legion of fans dressed up in various getups from the music videos of said hits!
Backed by her dancers, Kyary mesmerised us with all the tunes from her recent album, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution, plus recent singles such as Fashion Monster, Invader Invader and my most recent favourite, Ninjya Re Bang Bang! It was a beautiful atmosphere as we sang with her, waved our lightsticks to her tunes and even interacted with her in between songs!
During brief intermissions while she changed her wardrobe, we got to know more about Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, from her rise to stardom to snippets of the variety show she hosts, and we also get to know her bunny-esque mascot, Pamyurin!
Overall, 100% KPP World Tour in Singapore concert was a beautiful experienced as legions of Kyary fans turned up in costumes and lightsticks to celebrate their beloved singing fashion idol. I was quite mesmerised myself with the atmosphere, and of course, what better way for me to capture my experience than to take pictures of the event, which are now up on my Facebook page, Geniuth Photography.
Thank you, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, for the amazing concert, and we hope to see you again soon!
